Open Learning Papermaking Workbooks

A series of open learning courses, offering flexible training in the workplace

This series of workbooks are aimed at those who need to know more about the technical aspects of papermaking. The workbooks can provide full knowledge for the novice or further develop existing experience. The seven workbooks in the full programme cover a logical sequence in line with the stages of the papermaking process. However, each workbook stands alone and mills can identify relevant workbooks for individual trainees.

The workbook titles are:

1	The history and basic principles of papermaking
2	Fibrous raw materials and principles of woodpulping
3	Stock preparation
4	Machine wet end operations
5	Machine dry end operations
6	Surface finishing
7	Finishing processes

Each workbook contains guidance notes, quizzes, practical activities, questionnaires and a complete learning programme that the trainee can work through on their own (at their own pace, anytime, any place, anywhere!) or a trainee could work with guidance from an expert within the mill.
